Big time !SPOILERS! (stop looking, and reading if you haven't seen the finale!)
The ending may have been sad but...I'm just saying... no one else knew about his fakeness on his face, not even his man servant, Goggles McShock-stick.
Also someone made me laugh so hard yesterday about how the McShock-Sticks are the lands most prestigious bakers haha made me smile
If you cant guess I loved the finale, loved it! Amon might be my new favorite character in Avatar... next to Toph and Iroh. The way they handled there end was sooo Cowboy Bebop. But if you haven't seen it and your still reading go watch it now!
Also I'm at Anime Expo in LA this weekend at B37 and B38 so stop by. (Ill post up a journal too)
They should have revealed who Amon was 3 episodes prior to the end, least that way they could have given the audience some time to relate to him as a villain.
So far Amon didn't particularly strike me as a strong villain, just charismatic. If he really did believe in his ideals, he should have scarred his own face, it shows his willingness to go the distance to eradicate the world of benders.
Thank god I'm not the only one who thought this! He had to have been putting it in more than once, those products would be expensive, and they would take a long time to look realistic enough to convince everyone. Seriously, one of the least planned out things...not to mention it all just washes off in a few seconds, which would NOT work in real life. Oh well, I still love these two!
the ending was fracking awesome. it was nearly perfect, if slightly rushed.
you know some people are giving the ending a lot of heat. saying it was a contrived, forced ending, a deus ex machina that solves the problems simply. evne proffessional reviewers. However, the ending simply relied heavily on avatar savvy. to a guy not well versed in the lore, it seemed that way. people who only watched this seris and not the original would think so as well. guys like me can piece together the subtle truths and brilliance behind it. i can forgive normal people but professional reviewres should know better and do better research.
Shishio Makoto and Amon. Same Voice Actor and same enigmatic nigh-unstoppable antagonists in their own respective universes. If you think about it... they also have the same "backstory" of being scarred in the face and are completely level-headed against any opponent! I'd have to agree with you stating that Amon is one of the best antagonists (I wouldn't call him a villain).
As for your artwork, amusing depiction of his scar application. Those pink hairclips are hilarious too. xD It did make me think though... what if Amon was so committed to his cause, so dedicated... that he would purposefully bloodbend a firebender in the past to scar is face beyond recognition? It would speak volumes for Amon's character.
Lastly, lol at Goggles McShock-stick. I was fond of calling him Lightning Rod Man, cousin of Sparky Sparky Boom Man aka Combustion Man.
