This was a speed paint I did a while ago, around when the first Thor movie came out haha for maybe 1 hour. I have been working on a lot of projects, books and freelance work and making a big push on my own story, Primoral Decent. Its so fun! I will be putting up the pages up here on DA.
Cool piece.... And.... Not to nitpick.... Well actually, to nitpick, Thor's hammer is supposed to have a short handle. Not because that's the modern interpretation, but because that's actually what it says in Norse mythology. Loki interrupted the dwarves who were making the hammer and so they screwed up and the handle was small. That's the gist of the story. ..... So.... Yeah....
Did the norse God say that mjolnir glowed with lines of lightning or had perfect right angles? He's doing a reconcept of Marvel's version of a character from myth. The hammer's handle is fine, if anything it's more useful now than it was.
The Norse god (whichever one you were referring to) didn't say anything. If modern interpretations of past religions are true, none of the Norse gods ever existed, so they couldn't have said anything. Even if they had existed, I doubt they would have had anything to say about the human interpretations of their deific weaponry. The point I was trying to make is that if you're going to build off of and do your interpretation of a specific person, character, being, etc., then you should stick to some core attributes. If you change the character too much, then it is no longer that character. Mjolnir is an important part of Thor as a character. If you change Mjolnir too much, then it's not Mjolnir anymore. Also, the handle's usefulness has nothing to do with it. The handle was short for a reason, and it made Mjolnir a much more unique weapon.
Plus, Thor is a god. I don't see how the length of the handle of a magical hammer is going to affect the force with which he can strike.
Also, if you didn't notice the first time you read the comment, I WAS USING SARCASM. Someone seriously needs to make a sarcasm font. It'd help reduce the number of people getting all defensive because they couldn't see the humorous implication in a comment.
If you want to be thoroughly schooled, you'd have to find professors like my physics ad engineering professors. They actually maintain high standards for the classes. Oh, the other meaning of schooled? Okay then.
And since the internet is where ideas proliferate and things easily get out of hand... You wouldn't make much money off of it because it would be pirated a day or so after you released it. But that's the internet for ya.
in my mind all of my characters look like this then I go to put it on paper and a stick figure comes out and I'm like "SHIT" on a more serious note I love the shadowing on Thor and Mjollnir it is badass!
